  1. Cheapflights.com— a sketchy looking site that actually turned out to give me real tickets to Japan. We first went to google flights to look up which flight I wanted, and then we went to this website to find a cheaper option. Maybe I shouldn’t be recommending this since I’ve only used it once, and also everything was in German… BUT it worked for me that one time. So at least… look it up. See what you think for yourself.
  2. Secretflying.com— you don’t buy flights on this website. This is where you go to find flights from various airlines (domestic and international) that had an error in the system and now have really cheap prices for their tickets. Most of the deals are round trip to places in Europe! I’ve seen as low as $300.
  3. Ryan Air— this is an Ireland based airline that has really cheap prices for flights around Europe. I got to London for $60 round trip. The only annoying thing is that when there are cheap flights like this, then that means the flight attendants are always coming down the aisle to try and sell their sponsors’ products. Just put some earbuds in, open up your book, and enjoy your flight.
  4. Train Passes– If you are gonna be in a European country for a while, it could be beneficial to get a train pass. In Switzerland, we had a couple of passes. The best one was a pass where you can take any public transportation anywhere in Switzerland with a pass that cost literally $3,000….…. so I did not get that, instead I got a couple of different monthly passes that applied to areas that I frequented (like school and the zones around it) rather than the whole of the country. Maybe if I wasn’t a student (and literally wanted to spend $3,000 on a pass) then the general pass would have been better for me! But I was in college four days out of the week with no job. so.
  5. Public Transport App– it makes things so much easier. You can check when the next train is coming, you can be running to catch a train and buy the ticket for the train at the same time, AND since we are really stepping into a new digital age, one of the passes that I previously mentioned expired because they now only allowed us to buy the passes online. No more lil plastic booklets.
  6. Flix Bus— I think a lot of people know about Flix Bus, but if you don’t it’s a really easy and cheap way to get around Europe. It’s a company of busses that just takes you anywhere. You need to bring your passport and pay before hand, then arrive at the designated bus station, and get on the bus. It has air conditioning, wifi (that isn’t good), and ports to charge your phone. I got from the south of Switzerland to Lake Como in Italy for like… $4-10 or something like that. The only downside is… it’s a bus, so it won’t be comfortable if you are trying to go really far. My drive was about three hours.
  7. ESN card– The Eramus Student Network card is an ID card that you pay $10 for and it goes pretty far. It can get you into a lot of places discounted or for free: parties, events, excursions, etc. On the back of the card, it shows their sponsors that will also get you stuff for discounted prices (like Ryan Air and hostels).

Short and sweet. I hope you enjoyed.

See you soon,

Ken
